‘BLIND SPOT’: A SITE-SPECIFIC INTERVENTION
AT GLOBE ART POINT BY DOĞA ÇAL 1.12.2022-3.1.2023

Which one is a blind spot to you?

………A. If I see that I am seen

……………….B. If I don’t see that I am seen

………………………..C. If I see that I am not seen

………………………………….D. If I don’t see that I am not seen

…………………………………………….E. If I close my eyes, and don’t see

Blind Spot is a site-specific intervention, that wants to question the gaze, the (in)visibility of indoors and outdoors, hence the moral. How do we behave in the division of a place visible and invisible? What would we like to see if we had a chance to be invisible? Do we raise our voices when we are in a public place or at home? Do we jay-walk when there are traffic cameras?

The Blind Spot invites the viewer to play with the office of Globe Art Point, to lie down, to look through the window, to look at the windows across.

The spots that are not viewed through the windows are marked as blind spots inside the office. It would not be surprising to say that there are very few blind spots in the GAP’s office, which has huge windows.

In the office you will find marked areas and a bundle of A4 paper on one of the blind spot labelled areas. You are invited to write on the papers to keep a written conversation or to leave traces of your contemplation. Where are the blind spots at your place? Are you scared of blind spots?

Welcome!

GAP WINDOW is a window exhibition project initiated by Globe Art Point in 2021. The concept was created for the members of GAP Creatives Database with an aim to provide a unique opportunity to exhibit and/or experiment with their own artistic work and ideas. The project does not follow any specific theme and it can be done in various forms, from painting directly on the windows through displaying poetry, paintings, photographs, illustrations to streaming media and digital art.
