I am Samuel Boateng, an Italian-born filmmaker of Ghanaian descent, currently residing in Finland. In 2016, I embarked on a transformative journey, relocating to Finland to explore new horizons and overcome financial barriers to pursue my passion for photography and videography. With a shifted mindset and dedicated efforts, I acquired the tools to bring my creative visions to life. As a Cinematographer and Director of Filmmaking/Docufilmmaking, my focus lies in reshaping narratives by spotlighting untold stories, particularly those addressing social issues. A graduate of the Academy of Moving People and Image (AMPI) in November 2022, my debut short film, "The Road Not Taken," reflects my commitment to storytelling. The film premiered in Helsinki cinemas, marking a significant milestone in my artistic journey. Since 2020, I've directed and collaborated with fellow videographers/filmmakers on various projects, including music videos and short films. In 2021, I expanded my creative pursuits, working with immigrant dancers to craft and perform theatrical shows, fostering collaborations with theaters across the metropolitan area. My mission is to amplify the voices of marginalized communities and shed light on the often-overlooked aspects of our shared human experience through the powerful medium of film.
