EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art
Ahertajantie 5, 02070 Espoo

Globe Art Point is delighted to announce the return of GAP Goes Galleries, continuing our collaboration with EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art for a special gathering that brings together curators, artists, and art organisations from across the Finnish art and culture sector.

This year’s edition offers GAP Creative Database members and our wider creative community an opportunity to meet EMMA’s curatorial team, alongside professionals connected to other museums and cultural institutions in Helsinki. Designed as a welcoming and low-threshold networking platform, the event encourages meaningful conversations, new connections, and the exchange of ideas within an inspiring museum environment.

As part of Globe Art Point’s ongoing mission to support international and underrepresented creatives in Finland, GAP Goes Galleries creates accessible opportunities for artists and cultural workers to engage directly with institutions, discover new professional pathways, and expand their networks within the field.

About the Event

GAP Goes Galleries is a unique initiative focused on creating spaces where creative professionals can meet beyond formal structures and institutional barriers. The event supports artists and cultural workers who are interested in:

  • Building professional networks
  • Learning more about museum and curatorial practices
  • Connecting with art institutions and cultural professionals
  • Exploring collaboration opportunities
  • Discovering new spaces and possibilities within the Finnish art field

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in informal discussions with curators and museum professionals while learning more about EMMA’s work, exhibitions, and approach to contemporary art and design.

The event will be conducted entirely in English, ensuring accessibility for participants from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

About EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art

EMMA is one of Finland’s largest museums and an important platform for modern and contemporary art, design, and experimental exhibitions. Located in the Tapiola district of Espoo, the museum operates within the iconic former Weilin & Göös printing house designed by Professor Aarno Ruusuvuori (1925–1992), widely recognised as a landmark example of 1960s concrete brutalist architecture.

With approximately 6000 square metres of gallery space, EMMA offers a dynamic and multidisciplinary exhibition programme that combines contemporary artistic practices with design, architecture, and spatial experimentation. The museum is known not only for its ambitious exhibitions but also for its commitment to accessibility, creativity, and audience engagement.

Surrounded by the famous garden-city landscape of Tapiola, EMMA provides a unique setting for reflection, dialogue, and artistic encounters.

Why This Event Matters

For many international artists and multicultural creatives in Finland, accessing institutional networks and establishing professional connections can often feel challenging. GAP Goes Galleries was developed to respond to this need by creating direct, approachable opportunities for dialogue between creatives and cultural institutions.

By bringing together museum professionals, artists, curators, and community members in a relaxed and accessible setting, the event strengthens visibility, exchange, and collaboration across the sector.

The initiative reflects Globe Art Point’s broader commitment to:

  • Supporting underrepresented voices in the arts
  • Increasing accessibility within the cultural sector
  • Encouraging intercultural dialogue and collaboration
  • Building sustainable professional networks for international creatives in Finland
