Zachariah Chamberlaine
Zachariah Chamberlaine is an author, performer and visual artist who is originally from London (UK), but has been living in Helsinki (Finland) for twenty-five years. He studied philosophy and contemporary arts at university, and likes to weave these elements together in his work. His writing currently focuses on texts for performance, and he regularly performs his own poetry, short plays and stand-up comedy. In his visual art, Zach mainly uses collage, acrylic and found items/trash. His artworks often tackle the same themes as his writing or illustrate his written work. Zach’s pieces are often explorations of contemporary issues and absurdities in society, musings on life and personal experience, or a combination or juxtaposition of the two. Since 2020, Zach has also been the main producer at the NoName Theatre, which is run by a non-profit association. This intimate blackbox theatre in downtown Helsinki focuses on plays and events in English (and occasionally other minority languages). The theatre actively seeks to stage new works written in English by people living in Finland.
