Ximena Gamboa, born in 1997 in Mérida, Mexico, is a painter and visual artist based in Helsinki with a temporary studio in Raasepori. She studied Visual Arts at the Universidad de las Artes de Yucatán and spent a formative semester as a guest student at the Kunstakademie Münster in Germany in 2019. She graduated in 2020 during the pandemic, an event that shaped her artistic perspective, and that same year she received first place in the Biennale José Atanasio Monroy in the under-30 category with her painting Farbe und Bewegung.
Her practice explores chaos as a cosmic force and source of possibility, a presence both in the mysteries of the universe and in the patterns of daily life. Through a meditative, intuitive process of layering and color interplay, she creates paintings that act as offerings, visual prayers seeking harmony within the unpredictable.
