Gundeslioglu is a material-based artist whose practice has centered on ceramics for more than fifteen years. In 2019, she completed her doctoral dissertation Interface: Engagement of Disagreements within the Context of Ceramic Material and Practice, accompanied by the solo exhibition Entropy. This milestone opened an intensive period of international artistic research and collaboration across Oslo, Jingdezhen, Venice, and Helsinki.
Her works have been exhibited widely, including at EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art, Design Museum Helsinki, Titanik Galleria (Turku), and Pera Museum (Istanbul), and are represented in permanent collections such as Museu de Ceràmica de l’Alcora, the Ceremart Foundation, Aalto University, University of Helsinki, and Suomen Taideyhdistys.
Since relocating to Finland in 2020, Gundeslioglu has held a postdoctoral position at the Uniarts Helsinki Centre for Artistic Research (CfAR), where she has contributed to collaborative projects such as Working with Soil (Empirica Research Group) and Art Meets Science (Helsinki University’s Pharmacology Department). She is also committed to education, having taught ceramics in both Turkey and Finland, including at Akdeniz University, Uniarts Helsinki’s Academy of Fine Arts, Töölö Gymnasium, and Taidekoulu Maa.
Nowadays, her current practice unfolds from her studio at Myllypuron Taiteilijakylä, where she develops independent projects as well as collaborative works such as Drifting with Clay (with Vera Anttila). Alongside her studio practice, she sustains her livelihood through part-time work and by offering private ceramic workshops, while also serving on the board of Catalysti ry, where she advocates for equity and inclusion in the Finnish art scene.
Balancing artistic practice with motherhood, Gundeslioglu approaches time, labor, and creative energy with new intentionality, finding ways to shape moments of fragmentation into generative spaces for art and life.
