Maksym Nalyvaiko is a Helsinki-based filmmaker, director, editor and creative producer. Before moving to Finland, I lived in Warsaw for nearly five years, where I studied filmmaking and earned a Bachelor’s degree from Społeczna Akademia Nauk. My practice combines directing, screenwriting, editing and production, and I develop projects from the initial concept and script through filming and final delivery.

My short films, including Fade (2025) and 48 (2022), explore memory, perception, human relationships and emotional experience through image, rhythm, sound and atmosphere. Fade also presents an LGBTQ+ relationship in a subtle and deliberately understated way, allowing the film to remain, first and foremost, a psychological drama rather than being defined by a single theme. I have also worked as an editor, colorist, script supervisor and production coordinator on international film projects.

My recent experience at Espoo Ciné expanded my professional practice into film festival production and cultural communication. I am currently developing new audiovisual work and seeking creative collaborations within Finland’s international arts and film community.
