Jovani De la Cruz Marín is a multidisciplinary Peruvian artist based in Finland, whose work intertwines ancestral Andean music, audiovisual art, and community participation. With over 35 years of musical trajectory and 15 years of experience in visual media, Jovani has carved an artistic path rooted in cultural identity, education, and environmental awareness.
A specialist in bamboo wind instruments such as the quena and zampoña, he began his musical journey at the age of 14 in Lima and led his first workshop by the age of 17. Since then, he has performed across Europe and the Americas, sharing the legacy of Indigenous peoples through a sonic fusion of Andean and Nordic traditions.
Jovani holds a degree in audiovisual communication and is also certified as a nuoriso-ohjaaja (youth educator and counselor) in Finland. He has led music, photography, and video clubs, combining his professional training with community-based work in multicultural youth spaces. His artistic approach draws from community art, environmental art, and, more recently, AI-generated art, merging technology, nature, and tradition.
As a sound designer, photographer, and documentary filmmaker, he uses his lens to tell authentic stories—from the landscapes of the Andes to portraits of multicultural life in Northern Europe.
He also records and mixes music in his home studio, where he produces content that blends traditional sounds with contemporary production techniques.
“My art is born from the wind, from collective memory, and from the dialogue between cultures. I believe in the power of creating together.”
