Mezzosoprano, harpist, poet and multidimensional artist, Isabella Shaw was born in Colorado, USA. She is a graduate of Sibelius Academy Opera and lives in Finland. Shaw is a founding member of experimental early music ensembles Emrys (CH/DE), and Motus Harmonicus (CZ). She has performed with orchestras in Finland, Czech Republic, and abroad. She has recently appeared in One Drop by Sonya Lindfors, Merlin (ensemble Emrys), Deep Waters, as Melissa in F. Caccini’s Alcinan Saari (ensemble Arketyppit), and as performer/writer in How will you carry this? (Kultturikeskus Caisa).
Recent roles and performances include Ada (Ada Lovelace, U. Pulkkis), Doriclea (La Doriclea, F. Cavalli), Send it by the Water (ensemble The Fine Hand, Utrecht Oudemuziek Festival). She is currently also working on a multi-media performance focused on Afrodiasporic queer worldbuilding, Aetheric Harmonies, and original music recordings: Afterlife, and Nightsongs. Shaw is the author of Weyrwood (Interactive Fiction, Choice of Games), Songs of Remembrance (poetry), and Wilderness (poetry).
