Ajita Roy is a contemporary painter based in Espoo, Finland. Born in 1982, she spent her formative years in Chhattisgarh, India. Her art embodies the colors and themes of the Indian hinterland. She brings a contemporary perspective rooted in historical art, mythology, and folklore, layered with influences from Indian and Japanese figurative art.
Working primarily with oil and acrylic on canvas, she creates narrative paintings that reflect memories of growing up in the Indian hinterlands and her lived Nordic experiences.
