Globe Art Point and Culture for All Service are seeking a part-time artist for a paid community art commission taking place from 24 August to 30 November 2026.

The selected artist will join the project Developer Squad – Expertise for Combating Stigma, Discrimination, and Poverty in the Arts and Culture Sector, funded by the City of Helsinki.

About the Commission

Developer Squad is a new artist-led, multidisciplinary initiative that uses art as a tool to challenge stigma, discrimination, and exclusion. The project brings together an artist, a social and health care professional, and an expert by experience to create meaningful arts-based activities with community members.

The selected artist will act as the lead facilitator of the Developer Squad and work with clients of the Helsinki Deaconess Foundation’s D-station in Kallio. Activities will be planned collaboratively with participants and carried out within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

The role includes:

  • Planning and facilitating arts-based activities
  • Co-creating three workshops and a final celebration event
  • Participating in regular Developer Squad meetings
  • Contributing to project evaluation
  • Attending three training sessions related to stigma, discrimination, and neurodiversity

Training and ongoing support will be provided throughout the project, including guidance from the Project Coordinator at Culture for All Service.

Who Can Apply?

We are looking for an artist with experience in, or a strong interest in, community-based artistic practice and working with diverse groups. Experience with different communities and participant groups is considered an advantage.

Artists from all disciplines are encouraged to apply, including:

  • Performing arts
  • Theatre and drama
  • Interdisciplinary practices
  • Other artistic fields

Applicants should describe any experience, knowledge, or interest related to anti-discrimination and anti-stigma work in their application.

Language

Finnish language skills are not required for this position.

Interpretation can be arranged when needed within available project resources. The commission offers an opportunity to gain work experience, expand professional networks, and strengthen connections within Finland’s arts and culture sector.

About the Participants

The project is designed for people who may face multiple forms of discrimination, including challenges related to poverty, mental health, or neurodiversity.

Activities will take place within the framework and safety guidelines of the Helsinki Deaconess Foundation’s D-stations. All participants are expected to follow safer space principles.
