PROMPTED CREATIVITY: HOW AI WILL DEFINE THE FUTURE OF IMAGE-MAKING

KUVATA WEBINAR #1 PROMPTED CREATIVITY: HOW AI WILL DEFINE THE FUTURE OF IMAGE-MAKING

The topic of the first webinar of the KUVATA project is “Prompted Creativity: How AI Will Define the Future of Image-making.” The speaker is award-winning photography and artificial intelligence artist Boris Eldagsen

AI is a revolution in technology that, like industrialization and digitization, will impact all areas of life. The momentum with which AI is improving and changing the way we live and work is impressive. What photography will still be in the future will not be defined by the medium itself, but by AI. Boris Eldagsen has been experimenting with AI Image generators since the beginning and was the first in the German-speaking world to develop a workshop on AI-generated images. He gives an overview of the current state of technical development and its impact on photography and society. In this webinar Boris will explain why AI-generated images are not photography (despite their appearance), why he considers image generators to be knowledge amplifiers – and how the future of creativity could look like.

The webinar will be held on Zoom on Tuesday, September 24. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Access to the webinar is free, but you are asked to REGISTER your interest via the following link REGISTER/KUVATA.

The registration form is bilingual, however, if you need help filling it out, please reach out to Globe Art Point’s project manager Alex at alex.kollerova(at)globeartpoint.fi. The Zoom link to the webinar will be sent to those registered by email.  NOTE: You can also register via the same link for other KUVATA project webinars, which you will learn more about later. The webinars are organised in English/Finnish with subtitles for non English/Finnish speakers.

Boris Eldagsen (*1970) studied fine arts at the art academies of Mainz, Prague, and the University of Hyderabad (India) – as well as philosophy at the universities of Cologne and Mainz.

As a photomedia artist, he has exhibited in institutions and festivals since 2000, including Fridericianum Kassel, Deichtorhallen Hamburg, CCP Melbourne, ACP Sydney, EMAF Osnabrück, Bundeskunsthalle Bonn, FORMAT Festival Derby, Singapore International Photography Festival, Chobi Mela Dhaka, Noorderlicht Groningen, Elektra Biennale for Electronic Arts Montreal and Kochi-Muziris Biennale. As a freelance strategist and idea generator, he has worked since 2001 for agencies such as R/GA, Razorfish MRM McCann, Saatchi&Saatchi, Scholz & Friends, TLGG, Endemol Shine and others.

Since 2004 he has been teaching at international art colleges (Victorian College of the Arts Melbourne, Photography Studies College Melbourne, NTU Singapore, Pathshala South Asian Media Institute Dhaka, Akademie für Bildende Künste Mainz, Hochschule Furtwangen and Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny) and gives workshops for the Goethe Institute, festivals and museums (Fotografie Forum Frankfurt, Westlicht Wien, Australian Centre for Photography Sydney a.o.). His background as a university lecturer, photo artist and digital media freelancer makes him one of the AI experts in the German photography scene. His refusal of the Sony World Photography Awards in April sparked a world-wide debate about the relationship between AI-generated images and photography.
