How Do You Feel? is a multisensory, multi-media installation by Ondi Madete exploring identity, empathy and human connection.

It’s impossible to ever put yourself in another person’s shoes. However, using five human senses we could try. The installation consists of eight subjects and eight portraits exploring identity through sight, touch, taste, scent, and sound. How Do You Feel? involves a chair, a screen, a journal and a table with incense, something to eat, and something to touch. For each multi-sensory portrait the audience is encouraged to immerse themselves in another through their senses and ask of themselves and the subject: how do you feel? Afterwards on a canvas by the chair the audience can draw, write, sketch, paint something, anything to express this feeling. The installation aims to explore empathy and connection.

I’m a Kenyan artist based in Pori, Finland. I love to explore the rich tapestry of human experience through music, poetry, short stories, film, photography and performance art. Creating art on my own or with different artists is exciting and gives birth to pieces that are nuanced and captivating.
