Diego Ginartes

Diego Ginartes is Spanish born independent producer, project manager and film programmer based in Helsinki. He holds a MA in Contemporary Film and Audiovisual Studies, University of Pompeu Fabra, in Visual Arts from University of São Paulo and Film Curating Studies from Elias Querejeta Film School – San Sebastian, Spain. From 2016 to 2019 he was the artistic director of Cinemaissí, Latin American film festival in Finland. He founded new cinema/new talents, a platform to encourage emerging filmmakers with risky and unconventional cinematographic proposals. As a film programmer, among other projects, he curates the screening series Other/Cinema, produced by the research group Critical Cinema Lab from Aalto University; Cuarto Cine, a pedagogical program focused on developing audiences’ familiarity with peripheral film culture and Luta ca caba inda about decolonization process in Guine Bissau trough moving image. Within the film festival he has internationally worked for events such as D’A, Tribeca and Rakkautta ja Anarkiaa.
